TEHRAN Hojjatoleslam Mohsen Kadivar was sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Special Clergy Court, his lawyer announced Wednesday. Kadivar, a cleric was jailed on Feb. 27 on charges of "dissemination of lies" and "disturbing public opinion." He was put on trial on April 14. His Lawyer Hojjatoleslam Seyed Hussein Musavi Tabrizi said that the sentence can be appealed. "I will protest to the ruling of the special clergy court," he said.

According to the law the lawyer has 20 days to appeal. Musavi Tabrizi said he will disclose the details of the sentence later. (IRNA)
